Home Maintenance: Weekly Tasks Checklist
As a homeowner, you already have a lot on your plate. From paying the mortgage to purchasing furniture, it can be really easy to miss out on an important task: home maintenance.
Maybe you have a leaking tap, a creaky door, some dirty gutters, or the grass in the backyard is reaching your hips! As a homeowner there is always going to be something that needs your attention. To help, we have compiled a list of weekly tasks to do around your home to keep it in perfect condition.
1. Clean the floors
Clean your carpets, hardwood or tiles to keep the surface of your home sparkling and in good condition. This can be done using a trusty vacuum cleaner or some soapy water and mop!
2. Wipe down your stove top
The grime and grease can pile onto your stove top which is not only unpleasant to look at but the build up can be hazardous to health! Use a wash cloth or a scrub to get the best results when cleaning the grime off the stove!
3. Mow the lawn and trim the bushes
No one loves these tedious gardening tasks, but they must be done! To keep your grass and hedges in good condition it is important to mow and trim them regularly. This will help reduce weeds, over thickening and keep your yard looking amazing.
4. Clean your window’s
Mouldy windows are unsightly! And… they are unsafe for your health. While many cleaning solutions can work, we recommend either bleach water or white vinegar with water as mould can be quite tough to remove.
5. Wipe down appliances & surfaces
Much like cleaning your stove top, it can be very rewarding to wipe down kitchen appliances weekly to avoid the build-up of germs. You can encourage your kids to assist with rewards… a fun little competition between siblings can also make this task handy!
6. Remove any spills, stains, and other messes
This is a task that is best completed as the messes are made! In any household, mess is bound to happen. It’s important to try and stay on top of it! The older the stain, the harder it is to remove.
7. Dusting
Help prevent allergies and extend the life of your air filter by dusting off furniture and any surfaces where dust may collect.
Maintaining your home can be overwhelming, but completing tasks weekly, will result in less cleaning in the future… it will also likely improve the longevity of your appliances and surfaces, helping your build hold it’s value into the future.
