International Women’s Day: Meet Larissa
At Hudson Homes, we strive to have a diverse team, full of individuals with lot’s to offer. In celebration of International Women’s Day, we wanted to feature Larissa our Customer Relationship Management Team Leader.
We discuss Larissa’s passions and the challenges she has overcome to become the leader she is today.
When Larissa first joined the workforce she says she,
“always aspired to be in a leadership role, working towards this position has been very rewarding.”
Although it didn’t come without it’s challenges! Larissa says…
“Construction is typically very male dominated. Every day is a new experience, I worked very hard to build a library of knowledge across several roles in residential housing.
My biggest challenge was leaving to have children. I left a previous company to be a mum for over 3 years. Returning to work was challenging as the construction industry changes so quickly.”
When asked what advice Larissa would give to younger women, who are just starting their career in the building/construction industry she said,
“Be flexible, and learn a lot of different roles. Every day there is something new to learn. Be flexible, approachable and be open to change.
Getting a feel of the whole company really helped me, I made sure to go out and see the homes, and get a feel of the whole experience rather than just sitting at the computer and doing the paperwork.
What I do is all about the client’s journey, it’s such an honour to go on that journey with them. It’s such a joy, there is no other job that shares such a big life investment with a client. It’s important to work hard and love what you do!
Finally we asked what “women lifting each other up” means to her and she said,
“Support each other, work as a team and don’t be competitive with fellow staff members. Everyone has something to learn off each other whether its me learning off a younger person, or a younger person learning off my experience.”
Such a great role model to the rest of the team! Hudson Homes would like to thank Larissa and all the other females on our team for all of their ongoing hard work, it is great to have you all part of the team.
